This position supports the Safety and Mission Assurance Services II contract at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Under general supervision, reviews, analyzes, and prepares contractor, subcontractor and customer program submittals including accident risk assessment reports; preliminary hazard analyses, system hazard analyses, tracking system and system inspection checklists, ground and range safety and orbital safety procedures, and accident and incident investigation analyses.
Candidate will review and analyze program development documentation for new and ongoing program including design criteria, specification and drawing, test operations and maintenance procedures, safety equipment and personal protective clothing, trade-off studies and siting plans; conducts independent and complex analyses to evaluate system design, accident risk factors and hazard energy sources and recommends major abatement or mitigation actions to prevent or correct safety hazards.
Candidate will prepare test plans, monitor results and prepare final test reports. Conduct special analyses as directed. Prepare materials for presentations and participate in design reviews, technical interchange and related meetings.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or major science (i.e, math or physics) Registration as a Professional Engineer or certification as a Safety Professional is highly desirable.
